The last few times of the big sales on Steam, users enjoyed a couple of more things than discounts. Valve implemented minigames into the platform, which allowed users to earn some coins to utilize them later on. These could be traded for marketplace credit or turned into profile cards. Apparently, soon, we might see this turn into loyalty awards permanently.
The developer behind the Steam cataloging website Steam Database just revealed that the platform may get loyalty rewards soon. Furthermore, the updates will include some kinds of reactions as well. Valve seems to be working on a system that allows the users to earn points.
Valve is working on loyalty awards/rewards. It has a point system, and a system to add reactions to user reviews.
Also includes reward items, redeeming points for badge levels, and possiblity game discounts.

Pavel Djundik states that it is not yet clear how the players will obtain points. According to Djundik, these points can be used to boost profile levels, create badges, and perhaps even to obtain game discounts. For now, we have to see and wait what Valve will officially say about this.
We will update you on this as more information surfaces.
