This Monday, The Last of Us 2 fans woke up to a very welcome surprise. The Playstation trophy list to Naughty Dog’s controversial latest hit has been updated to include new trophies for a yet-to-be-released patch.
The “Grounded Mode” add-on includes two new trophies, “Dig Two Graves” and “You Can’t Stop This”. The description to the “Dig Two Graves” trophy reads “Complete the story on Grounded”. While in “You Can`t Stop This”, the description reads “Complete the story with any Pemadeath setting”.
For those of you who are new to the franchise, or simply forgot, Grounded is the hardest difficulty setting on TLOU 1. On “Grounded” the player was faced with the most realistic experience possible to the game. No Heads Up Display, fewer resources for crafting and upgrades and smarter AI are some of the changes to gameplay. The most impactful change, however, is the removal of the “Listen Mode”. This ability enables players to locate enemies based on the sound they make, seeing their silhouetes through walls.
Now even though Permadeath mechanics are new to The Last of Us franchise, they are already widely used. Very different games like “XCOM”, “Faster Than Light” and even “The Longing” use Permadeath in distinctive ways. But it generally means one thing: Do. Not. Die.
Whether the new additions to the game will behave as we expect them to or not, we can only speculate right now, but us, here at LeaderGamer, are very excited to find out. What are your thoughts? Do you think this patch may also bring the multiplayer component that appears to have been leaked a while ago?
Be sure to check in later with us as we uncover more about The Last of Us 2 future.
