Loot boxes are not very much liked by the gaming community and the regulators in real life. Destiny 2 was highly criticized for its over-utilization of the loot boxes since its launch. Bungie announced that they are getting rid of the loot boxes. Bright Engrams will almost entirely be deleted from the game soon, as Bungie looks for alternatives.
In a recent blog post published on the game’s official website, game director Luke Smith comments on the game’s direction. They underline that they want the players to understand exactly what they will be getting for their money.
“We want players to know what something costs before they buy it. Bright Engrams don’t live up to that principle so we will no longer be selling them on the Eververse Store,” states Smith.
Bright Engrams will be limited to the free and accessible part of the game. If you have the battle pass, you will be able to obtain them as you progress further. Do not take it mistakenly though, Bungie is working on an alternative.
For now, the game will be free loot boxes, until the developers find a way to implement them without harming the Destiny 2. We will update you on this as more surfaces.
